Pioneering rugby in Vietnam since 1992, the Saigon Geckos unite players of all backgrounds through hard play and genuine off-pitch camaraderie.
Founded in 1992 by expats and local Vietnamese players in Saigon, the Saigon Geckos Rugby Club has evolved from a humble touch rugby group into a multi-branch organization representing 15 nationalities across four teams: the men’s contact team, the Lady Geckos, the 35+ Dirty Geckos, and the Junior Geckos academy for youth aged 5 to 18. Based in Ho Chi Minh City, the volunteer-driven club trains in the An Khánh ward of District 2 and boasts a history of regional athletic success, including a two-and-a-half-year unbeaten streak and victories in the Indochine Cup, Cambodia 10s, and Ao Lang 7s. Beyond competition, the club works to expand Vietnamese rugby toward official government recognition and World Rugby status, while also supporting social inclusion through the Rugby Cùng Nhau charity for underprivileged children. Equally defined by strong off-pitch camaraderie, costume-themed away tours, and a welcoming social atmosphere, the Saigon Geckos serve as a cornerstone for unity, sportsmanship, and community across all ages and backgrounds.
